To hear... or not to hear... That is the question...

Posted by hania Sep. 22, 2007 @ 4:55 AM EDT

...
I have a hole in my ear drum.

How sad... a musician with a dud ear :( Now I HAVE to become famous!
:)

Right... it all started about 4 weeks ago when I noticed a slight ringing in my ears. Then the head aches came along. Weak, but annoying. I went to the doctor to check what was the matter, and he said that there was nothing in my ear and it looked fine and clean and happy - and that it could just be my imagination.

About 3 days later, my ear started to hurt and I went back to the doctor (a different one) and he said that I should book an audiologist appointment because this may be an infection.
I booked the audiologist, but there's a 2 week waiting period. So that's booked for Thursday 20th Sept.

Last saturday I had 2 glasses of wine while having a great time with some friends that came over, and BANG it hit like something painful! My right ear completely blocked, the pain was trully horrid. James ( my bf ) raced me to the nearest 24 hour chemist to try and get a decongestant (how ever you spell it) in case my tubes were blocked, but the pain was getting worse.

So we drove to a night doctor in Redland Bay who told me that because I had alcohol in my system, he couldn't give me anything stronger than panadol and that I should go to the hospital if it gets worse.

It got worse and so James and I went to the hospital - emergency - to try and solve this ear pain.

They saw me within 30 minutes and prescribed an antibiotic and pain killers - giving me the horrid news that I have an infection in my ear, caused by a chest infection that I was battling at the time and I now have a hole in my ear drum.

I think I made a joke about it at the time. The doctor looked at me funny.

I took the pain killers - they didn't work. So James had to call a doctor out to see me at the house. These doctors rock - they come out, you pay $130 and they solve your problems... or so they say.

He gave me a prescription for harcore pain killers, more antibiotics, decongestants and gum. Yes... gum.

We went to the 24 hour chemist yet again to get all these drugs to hopefully put me out of my misery.
The very next day, I took everything the doctor told me to take and my ear unblocked a little... just a little... but then blocked up again. Then later on in the day it did it again.

I was very pleased with this. I know that it's not going to be an overnight recovery, so any progress is good progress so early on in the treatment.

Then came the bad news... I started to feel ill in my tummy. I felt like throwing up, so I ran to the toilet at work - but nothing.
I then started to feel really tired.

To digress a little, there's a chick called Lorraine that works with me - she's like my mum away from home. I really mean it - this lady is the nicest chick that I have ever worked with. She checked all the meds that I was taking (as per order of the night doctor) and told me to go home. I thought I could drive. So I did.

I concentrated SO HARD on driving, by the time I got home, I just took off my pants, flopped into bed and called Lorraine (I promised her that I'd call when I got home to let her know that I'm safe) and told her that I feel like I'm going to pass out. I really did - seriously think I was just going to pass out.

Calmly, Lorraine told me to call my mum. I didn't know why - but supposedly (from what my mother tells me) I sounded like I had just overdosed on something and was about to fall into one of those deep sleeps that you never wake up from. I promised Lorraine that I'd call my mum as soon as I hung up the phone. And I did.

Mum started panicing - I couldn't understand why - I was just so sleepy - and the next thing I know is my dad is racing into my house (luckly, he lives like 5 streets away from me) yelling "HANIA ... HANIA!!" and runs into my room to check my temperature, and see if I'm still awake and alive.

Two minutes later, my mum rushes into the house and checks my pulse. She contacts several professionals who all say that what ever that night doctor gave me could have overdosed me on something called... um... I've forgotten, but the point was - get me to a doctor NOW.

So I had to get up, by now, with all the fuss - the adrenalin in my body started shooting into my brain and I felt more awake then ever, and so I put on my pants and off to the doctor we go.

He looks in my ear and tells me that I never had a hole in my ear drum. He then tells me to stop taking what ever it is I'm taking and just stick to the antibiotics only. Then he tells me to put eucaliptus (spelling) oil into hot water and breath that in until my ear unblocks - "as it will unblock immediately" he says.

Okie dokie.
I get home. The breathing doesn't work. I go to sleep.
James gets home from work - finds me in bed. I wake up and just decide to go downstairs and do music on the computer with my one good ear and my one dodge ear.

(excuse my language ... but ...)
FUCK IT.

If I have to live with a shitty ear drum for a few weeks until it heals and all goes back to being ok, I'm not going to stop doing what makes me live. So I compose some awesome techno track and then dad comes round again to check if everything is ok ...

The very next day, pain surges through my brain and I rush to the hospital - they gave me this awesome (oh how sweet) pain killers ... mmm... and booked me in for an ENT (ear nose & throat speicalist) for the day after. I've gone already for this visit and they told me I have fluid behind my ear drum because it has infact already healed, but healed too quickly for the fluid to have drained out and BAM! There lays the problem.

SO... to make a long story longer, I'm booked in to the hospital for minor surger this Monday (after tomorrow) to have a grommit put in my ear drum to allow what ever is stuck behind it to come out into this big wide world of worldy goodness.

My ear should unblock immediately.

I've been deaf in one ear now for 1 whole week. Feel for me my friends. It hurts.

Until next time ... HUGS AND SWIRLS...

Meow All

MORNING!!

So today I'm just posting cause I have had a glass of wine, I'm relaxed, I'm about to go watch a movie and all is well in the world. I have a whistling noise (high pitch) in my left ear - that's been going on for about 4 days now - I'm going to see a doctor about it tomorrow ... could be an ear infection eating out my ear drum... as pleasantly satisfying as that sounds, it's not fun. Phone conversations hurt and so do loud noises... poop!

I've been doing a lot of music lately though and have created new songs which I am going to share with you all pretty soon (cheers) ... James is actually going to the car to get the CD right now so I can download them onto newgrounds ... yay!

Hrmm - I think I'm going to tell you about the song I'm about to post. It has no name as yet, but for now, we'll call it " I Wish You Well. "
It's made for film - starts off light hearted - some chick is telling her family that she's fed up with all their supposed "love" and needs some space from them so she doesn't vanish within herself. Then she (in my mind) walks off and away from her family only to realise that her feelings are real and has to accept that she really doesn't want to be with her family... it get's a little emotional here.

Then there's a looping phrase "I wish you well" being sung lightly - this is really for visual purposes, a montage or something can occur - and then she re-sings her feelings to the audience, completing the song.

I kind of wish that I made the last bit super happy, but it was all just one take (the main vocals and piano) and it's just a rough out to see what you awesome animators can come up with. *hugs you all*

So yeah - just piano and vocals. Lots of harmony. You'll love it ;)

(crosses fingers) ... plaits hair... puts on a nice dres... drinks more wine... gets lost in her own post...

*cough*
SO ... I'm going to go now and post it. I'll leave you with yet another pic of me doing something "fashion-y" ... I don't remember which photo shoot this one was from - but it shows my mermaid side. I love mermaids. Yes I do. And you're wondering ... is she really 21 years old ?? I swear... I am.

Right - if anyone wants me to make any music for them - just ask - don't be afraid. I don't bite.

I'm really keen on seeing what people make out of my stuff ... show me more people!

And write to me. I'm lonely on here.

OK ... going...

HUGS TO ALL

ABOUT ME!

Posted by hania Jul. 31, 2007 @ 9:30 PM EDT

MEOW!

By now you've had a chance to review my music **wink wink nudge nudge** and are just wanting to know more about me... right?
Well, I'm a 21 year old chick from Brisbane, Australia. I've been into music MY WHOLE LIFE (and that is literal... I was thumping beats in my mothers tummy before I was born) ... yep.
I've had no professional training on my voice - it's all RAW TALENT BABY! But I studied violin and piano for several years of my younger life. Then quit because I didn't think I could give the composers the justice they deserved... setting out to create my own works of art for others to try and mimic... like a cat.

(don't ask)

I currently live with 3 guys in an awesome townhouse, and my music equipment takes up about 1/5th of the living area... teehee... but they don't mind :) I have collaborated a LOT with the animator JAMES LEE and we won this trip to Los Angeles with our short music clip POPSTAR . So we're heading off to LA in Feb 2008 to see what we can get up to.

Music wise - LA is freaking me out cause of all the people that want to be musicians - how can I compete?? But I'm working my ass off to try and make something catchy so that all shall love me there! I'm currently in touch with a few people who are willing and ready to make a video clip with me for one of my newest songs. It's a secret. Once it's ready, I'll be putting it onto RAGE and CHANNEL V and probably posting it up on Youtube and myspace... damn it. Hahaha... yay for mainstream marketing!! *passes out*

Hrmm... what else can I say? I'm also a model... but only part time - cause I want to spend most of the time at home with my beloved computer and keyboard. Yes... I say "Thank you" to it every time I'm finished playing ... it's strange, but I think of my keyboard as my baby. IS THAT SO WEIRD!? Man, this paragraph is going no where...

LET'S TRY AGAIN...

I hope you all enjoy listening to the music I've put up on here... just a bit about Red Light City (as I see it's getting the lowest score at the moment) - It DOES actually have lyrics - the music that I've posted is only the backing track. I completed the lyrics yesterday and now have to master the whole thing before I post it up on here... but yep. I should have mentioned it in the description thingy - but forgot. Oops. So keep in mind, there is more involved in the song. If you are using it in an animation, it's perfect for sound effects and voice overs cause it is so minimalistic at the moment - it won't sound too cluttered :)

Oh - and I've completed a diploma in animation as well... just in case people are wondering why I'm giving out tips on animation. YAY!!!!!

12 is my lucky number.

Hope to hear from you soon!! If you're looking for something musically special, email me : hania_zdunkiewicz@hotmail.com <<< I made that into a link in case you don't want to type it all out. :)

Okies ... I wish newgrounds allowed us to post more than 2 pieces per day...

Ciao for now!!

Cheers
-hania
