Awesome stuff as usual...almost thought you retreated from NG!
I'm always lurking. :D That sounded weird. I'm always around, might not speak up often though. There... that's better.
Well it's boring here compared to a married life, career, stuff like that. My family farm sold and I've got 3 weeks to amscray, find another place to live for a few months, then find a buy a new farm.. I hope. I've got a dozen outside cats here, want one?
If you said dogs... I'm not a cat person. Sounds like you've got a busy time ahead! I've heard of people getting a nice bit of land and renovating a shipping container into an amazing home... I read your latest post and it seems like you've got it all worked out though. But a kick-ass shipping container house would be pretty cool :p I know a guy who turned one into an awesome recording studio back in Australia. Although we have snow here... not sure how that would keep during winter. Hmm.
Even cargo trailer would work, I've seen that too, insulation and (tree) shading work wonders. Might go that route, but with winter fast approaching, I might as well sit tight somewhere, take the time to find a good spot to unload my crap.
Or I could just sell all my shit, and swim to Australia, eh? It is me, or are prices much lower there than here?
Actually I'd say they're the same as New Jersey, if not higher. Depending on where exactly you go in Australia, the cost fluctuates, but here's an example of what I was paying while there... about $3600 on just basic living (per month) expenses; rent, phone, internet, car, fuel, electricity, and groceries. So that doesn't include eating out ($14 will get you an egg on bread with two spinach leaves and a garnish of pepper... $4.50 will get you 1/8th of a small avocado on the side and $16 will get you a basic cocktail. BUT YOU DON'T TIP ANYONE!) or buying clothes/ furniture etc... cars are WAY more expensive in AUS too.
On the plus side, the Aussie dollar is currently really shit in comparison to USA, so if you took a bucketload of money, you'd be well off. ;) USD $1 = AUD $1.41 currently.
Thank you so much Mrs. Hania! I've got NG friends in the south-central your old homeland, but one's well off, and the other's living out on the fringe... so their points of view could be a bit skewed :p I'm kinda saddened that food prices are so high, shame I can't haul the John Deere tractor over there...
Living in north Jersey's no financial picnic either O_O though it's probably worse in the south, where there's a new town every 5 miles or so. If fatso could get more towns to consolidate services/responsibilities, this could be a good place to live.
Christie hey? I have a bunch of political opinions, but I'm too timid to voice them online. A conversation for us over coffee, perhaps. lol.
Wise choice! Besides, it'll become academic to me once I move out of state anyway. I'm a country boy, and need to find somewhere less congested and more practical to live, like PA. It's just sad how my friends and family here have already written me off :(
So how's married life, got all the paperwork and insurance forms taken care of yet?
They write you off cause you're moving?! Just don't root for the Flyers (or the Rangers) and we can still remain friends. ;)
Married life is awesome. We're getting a puppy! I'm so pumped about that. Puppy pumped.
On the boring end, all the insurance etc has been taken care of - now just finishing up my adjustment of status to become a real person and get a social security number. Lol. Never EVER thought I'd have one of those but HERE I AM!
He's worth it. Also... puppy. The puppy is also worth it. But the puppy will never have a social security number. #fact

All that, and you come back to this boring place on the internet... no idea why.

How can it be boring if you're here too!
