Its true that record deals are a dying breed. However, some record companies, especially smaller ones will offer you a "partnership" where basically the company gives you TV spots, bumps your singles up ect and Pays for your tours, in exchange they get a percentage of the profit. Rather than the old system, where record companies would give you money to do stuff and you paid them back.
However with the new system, its not working in the record companies favour as a lot of artists are finding they can promote themselves. However it would be good to have the record companies money....
